I've updated the front page poll with this question: How many rounds do you fire on a typical trip to the range? I'm probably in the 200 - 250 rounds / trip level. Sometimes more sometimes less, but that's about average.
How many do you shoot?

If I fire too many and get tired, accuracy goes to pot and I leave feeling unsatisfied. How many are too many? Depends on if I'm alone or with others and what level of load I'm shooting. I can shoot a lot more light .38's than 300 gr. .44's.

I'm a 51 -100 kind a guy. I'm usually shooting rifle, so about 60 rounds will do!

That's what limits me too Rod, arms get tired, eyes start to get a bit less sharp and missing isn't nearly as much fun as hitting.
I think how often I get out has something to do with it too. If I were able to get out and shoot every day I'd likely be in the 50-100 range too (and likely be a much better shot).

I guess I just swayed the results (6 responses total). I like to put about 100 through my carry peace once a week. After that, I feel like I'm just burning up powder and not getting anywhere. I'm in th process of joining an outdoor 300 yd club now and will be trying out rifle etc. so this may change.

i chose 251-300, i take several revolvers and pistols. make a day of it when i can, wife works and i stay outa my bosses hair at the range. i end up shootin at sticks, cans, plastic bucket at 280 meter burm, i even try for a iron target up on the side of a hill at 600 yards or better. if anyone shows up i show off by turnin my vaquero .45 colt upside down and impressin em by knockin cans around.
rough job but someone gotta do it.

Well I had to weigh in with the 0-50 . But I'm real fortunate in that if I want to shoot all I need to do is step out the back door and start blasting, so a trip to the range is foreign to me.
Maybe I should of disqualified myself from your poll JohnK

I'm usually in the range of 200 to 250, but on a good day I fire over 300 sometimes.

I don't go to a range, I walk out back. Last Saturday I went through 400 rounds of .45 Colt, 100 12 Gauge shells, 100 .44 magnum rounds through a lever action rifle and 20 rounds of .50 through the S&W 500. That's a typical day of shooting and I'd like to shoot more.
My fiance went through 300 .357 rounds, 30 12 gauge shells and 100 rounds of .44 magnum.
The 10-year-old shot 150 rounds of 22LR, 50 rounds of .38 special and 1, yes one, 3-1/2 #2 turkey load. ;)
The 12 year-old girl put about 200 rounds of .22 mag through the Golden Boy, shot a box of .410 shells and tried a .357 for the first time. She shot 5 rounds from 20 yards away and I heard, "BANG! - Clink" 4 times. Then she said the pistol was too heavy for her and wanted me to buy a lighter one.
We'll all shoot a lot more as the daylight lasts longer...

I'm pretty much spent after shooting sixty to eighty carefully aimed shots. My eyes get tired, my concentration looses focus. Shooting a single shot I take up to two minutes between shots so just the time actually shooting works out to a couple of hours. Shooting an M1A with match sights my shot count is probably closer to 100 rounds.

Nate, I don't know if you reload for all those extra folks, but it you do, and I were you, we'd only get to shoot about one a year at that rate of fire!

I'm only able to get to the range every 2 weeks so I bring a lot of guns and ammo with me and spend the day there.
- S&W Mod 19-4 6" Nickle 150-200 rounds
- Ruger Security Six 6" 50-100 rounds
- Marlin 1894 .375 50-100 rounds
- (Carry Piece)S&W Mod 5903 200-300 rounds
- 2 Colt 38 special 150 rounds
- .22 Rem pump rifle 100 rounds
Then I spend 6-8 hours cleaning on sunday

>>I don't know if you reload
I just started reloading and I'm only loading .44 Magnum right now. .45 dies are on the way.
The entire family got wrapped up in CAS so the shooting increased. Soon as I figure out what I'm doing I'm going to get a Dillon 550. The Rockchucker just can't keep up and I'll never get time to shoot.
I like having the family shoot with me and they all know how to clean their firearms so the end of the day isn't too bad. I shoot for at least an hour or so every evening and one of them will usually walk out with something they want to shoot. I don't think the boy will be asking to fire any 3-1/2 shells anytime soon though...

Lately I've been shooting rifles a lot more often than handguns, and usually take a couple with me each trip to the range. I chose 101 to 150. I usually take some sort of 22, either lr, mag, or 22-250 and put 50 to 100 rounds through that. I'll also take a milsurp or what ever hunting rifle I happen to be working up a load for at the time. Twenty to fifty rounds through those is usually enough by then.

I'm in the 151-200 round average. This is invariably spread through several guns.
I usually limit myself to 2 hours in the indoor range. That's about all I can stand.
I was in the range 3 hours yesterday, and this morning I have a major sinus headache and I hurt.
I'm not sure, something about being cooped up in the little shooting stall. I don't feel as tired after a full day outdoors as I do after 2 hours indoors.

I am in the 250-300 rds range. I shoot 4-5 different handguns and 2 configurations of Contenders as well as alternating with a couple of different rifles on each trip. Of course the rounds go up considerably if the Eagle Arms ER-15 goes along. Then it's home for a few hours of cleaning and then the Dillon 650XL gets a workout so I am ready for next time.

I will do at least 100 rounds of .22 through my Ruger Government, and 50 - 100 of 357 roughly weekly.

usually a couple of hundred although i never counted. i tend to keep loaded ammo in the boxes i buy the bullets in, and i take several calibers each trip and several guns for each. not a good process i know, but i hate to forget a gun i wanted to shoot.
sunday i stayed for over two hours which is unusual since my eyes or arms are usually tired by then.

I typically shoot 500-800 on a range trip. 300-400+ will be 38's and 357's through my M19. Never shot more than 600 through it in one day though. I'll usually shoot 100-150 22's also and the rest will be 45 Colt, 40 S&W and 45 auto on the average trip.
