Stock Springfield 1911A1 .45ACP & Kimber Compact CDP II .45ACP. Haven't competed in years, but I'm looking at getting started in IDPA with a local club. It all comes down to available time.

I have a Springfield 1911A1 Mil Spec Park. I was wondering if this would be suitable for IDPA? It shoots real good with handloads of cast bullets. I have to know the power factor for this. I would have to be in the single stack event. And also have a HP in 9MM.

Check the IDPA Rules and it should answer your questions about which pistol is allowed for each class. I'd probably use the Springfield 1911 and the Kimber if I join the IDPA club. Sorry 50DEP, I'm not trying to hijack your thread.

I'm shooting an old ugly Kimber Classic(.45)in USPSA, IDPA, and Steel Challenge.

I really need a Trojan myself.

Just to let everyone know, good things are being said on the internet about the STI Spartan. It's supposed to be the hottest single-stack out there for the money now.

50DEP - Are you using the .45 for pin shoots or does it get some exercise dinging plates? I'm guessing that's what you prefer to use the .38 super for, but inquiring minds what to know.

50, regarding your question, what are you asking? Just plain what am I shooting the most right now? or what am I shooting in a particular activity?

I am not very "active" any more. What I did use is pretty dated but then I would probably still be using it today too for the most part.

Bianchi Cup - Colt Govt. Model, pretty stock but with low mount Bomar sights.
IPSC - Same
Bowling Pins - same (do you detect a trend? ).

IDPA, CDP - Kimber Custom Classic (cheapest gun they make).
IDPA, ESP - Colt Govt. Super .38 (lightly modified)
IDPA, SSP - Springfield Armory P9, .40 S&W
IDPA, SSR - S&W 4" 25-2 (early factory gun)

3 Gun - Colt Govt. .45, Remington 870, Sprinfield M1A (last time I did this was 20 years ago, would probably work into an AR these days)

Subgun - Reising .45 or H&K Mp-5.

I still use a M1A for NRA and 3 gun @ our club, as well as a Mossberg 590, and my Glock 22.
OH! I almost forgot, I'm in the process of modifying a Desert Eagle for shooting 38 specials only for Pin shooting.

Hey, another SMG Match shooter........

I have owned SMGs for over 25 years, but just started into SMG matches. I am starting SMG matches at my local club this year (4 dates set) to test the waters... My collection includes a Reising M50 and S&W 76, MAC M10/45, MAC M11/380, and MkI Stemple.

Submachine Gun Matches are definitly ACTION SHOOTING...

I am sticking with the Beretta 92/96 platform.

I am using the 96 Brigadier Inox (in .40) for IDPA's SSP division. That division has a 125 PF, so for the 180gr bullets I am shooting, it means very light recoil.

Okay, it's a gamer load, I'll admit it.

I am using the same gun load combo for steel matches and shooting in the "Production Division". I have steadily moved up in the standings list, which makes me happy.

I prefer to use my .45 1911 for the bowling pin matches, which I don't do too often. I think I pick up bad habits when I try shooting at pins. But I have shot them w/ my .40 and my 9mm
