I own a set of rcbs beam scales and have so for the last five years or so i have never checked them with check weights do you advise that i buy a set and check them
Check weights are pretty cheap insurance. The most use you get out of them is not just checking your scales for accuracy but checking yourself to make sure you haven't made a mistake setting your scales when you change to a different weight of powder. I use them every time I reset my beam scales to a different weight of powder just to make sure I haven't set my scales incorrectly. For instance if I set my scales for 20 grains of powder I put 20 grains of check weight in my scale pan to see if I actually have them set correctly. Then I know for sure that I have everything set right.
I use them on my digital scales also every time I go to a different weight of powder just to make sure nothing is off. It doesn't take but a second to throw the weights in the pan to check.
