We've had polls about how many visitors are handloaders, how many loaders people have, favorite bullets and so on but nothing about how long you've been reloading your own. So the question is: How long have you been handloading?
Less than 1 year
1-2 years
2-4 years
4-7 years
7-10 years
10-13 year
13-17 years
17+ years

I voted 4-7, I've been loading for six years now, but the first year or so, I did very little loading, then when my income increased after I graduated, my reloading incresed considerably.

I'm afraid I'll have to admit to 17+ years. I think the actual number of years is 25, but I have CRS and can't be sure.

Off and on since 1961 but really got going in '67. Since then my reloading increased pretty steadily though my spare time did the opposite. Since retiring with more time to devote to it, my interest has peaked again. That's what? 37 years steady, 43 total. I will say right off, however, that I have had to re-learn a lot of stuff, and still have a ways to go. Input from members of this forum have boosted my interest and added to my understanding of reloading in more ways than I can list.
Thanks to everyone for all of that.

I voted 17+ years. I actually been loading 35 years. I still have my original Lee Loader and in the box is the reciept for June of 69. I was still in high school then.

I've been casting bullets since I was 11, and I think I started loading shortly afterwards, but I got into it heavier in my mid-to late teens.

I guess somewhere close to 30 yrs on loading and 35 on casting. My uncle taught me how to cast and reload, mostly to keep his lazy a** in ammo.
He took a lot of time to teach me and was very meticulous about it all, and now I know why.....apparently he wanted to make sure I didn't double charge something

I guess I'm the New kid on the block--I've been loading since'88. Because of the Divorce in '00 and the corresponding loss of my reloading equipment (rusting in a garage in Houston)subtract 3 years from that figure. I must have about 3K worth of dies and components rotting away in the ex's gatrage also.

Well, it's 25 for me.   They've all been fun but I think the last year and a half was my best.   I mellowed and put all the knowledge to use, where it seemed that all I did was accumulate that knowledge before.

The guided missle light cruiser I was on from 62-65 had separate bullets and powder for both 5" and 6". I had to help load every round back onboard when we came out of dry dock in Feb 1963. Does that count? Oh well, it was worth a try!

I started reloading in late '65, right before I ran out of the one box of factory loads I had (49.0 gr H4831 with 85 gr bullet in 6mm Rem). I think I bought a box of factory .357s in 1968. Other than that I don't think I have bought any factory loads except three boxes of .30-06 to compare a Mauser with an 03-A3 and a thousand or so .223s for an AR 15.

About 1 1/2 years for me. I happened across a gentleman who wanted to just get rid of some of his deceased dad's stuff, so for $60 I got four dies, a rock chucker, powder thrower, scale (10-5-10??) loading block, case trimmer, and a few things I've forgotten about I'm sure.
Never thought to myself "I should handload!" until the opportunity was dropped into my lap like it was.

It's been 7yrs for me now. I'd just bought a new 41mag at that time. You can imagine the look on my face when I went to buy a box, it was sticker shock. I did some studying and figured that I could get into reloading for about 100.00 using Lee products. Needless to say, I like it. I also like the versatility that you can get my reloading but can't from factory ammo.

Almost ten years here.

I'm not better at it now than when I first started.

14 years for me. I started with a Dillon 550b loading for the 45 ACP. Fortunately for me the 45 ACP and Unique are a forgiving combination.

I first started reloading in the early 50's with my father. I now have his old hollywood press and still loading for a 30-06 he bought in 1946.

1965 for me. Is that over 17 years ago?

Well over 17+ years. More like 30. Still learning everyday.

I would have to say my exposure to reloading has been 25 years.
But in all fairness of that 25 I would have to say 14 years of pulling the handle.

From my mid 20's to my early 30's I was pulled away from the sport completely due to life, wife, kids, career and so on I'm sure you more seasoned guys understand???

EDIT: I voted 13-17 years
