What a coincidence! I just bought myself a new spotting scope, and I have an old SKS stock somewhere...
(Off to look for it.)

That rig looks good. Back in the 60's I did the same thing, taping a cheap telescope on top of an old M-1 carbine stock.
However, be careful where you are pointing that thing. Someone might think to shoot back.
Take care and have fun, Miguel

For cameras with big lenses, they sell a special gizmo based on the same idea, much more expensive of course. The trigger on the 'gun' can be connected to the camera's shutter release.

"High tech" scope mounts. Make sure you have them registered with the local authorities.

ALbiet it rather late, I have to thank you for posting this, I mounted my Burris 20X60 80MM on a stock, and now I can actually use the darn thing. Previously, you'd have to sneak up on the tripod to steal a steady look downrange!
Sure comes in handy when it -16 on the range, and there's 2 foot snowdrifts between you and the target!!
