Starting a new load for my 308 LCP...
I just bought a mold that suppose to be a mold for 9mm Luger, 38 Super, 380 ACP (356 Diameter) 124 Grain.
This is the exact diameter I need but when I loaded a dummy round it seems as the bullet is very long and at max. OAL it gets seated half way in to the case.
My question is, is this a safe seating depth? if not why does the manufacturer claims that it's for 308acp?
P.S.
This is the mold I just bought:

I'm sure you meant .380 ACP.
That's not likely to be a workable mould for you. The bullet is too long to allow it to fit in the magazine unless you seat it so deep that you have no powder space - which is highly dangerous due to the pressures it creates.
Look for a mould of about 90-100 grains, which is the standard bullet weight for cast loads in the .380 ACP.

thank you, that's correct, i meant .380 ACP to use in Ruger LCP
there is enough space for powder after loading and the loaded round is short enough to fit in the magazine. Given the fact that bullet is seated so far in the pressure would be very high.
Why would someone claim that their mold is 380ACP and it's not?... a stupid marketing trick I guess?

Viktor, we are already deep into this question. Go to our cast bullets section and read the thread called "TC or Round?"
What I believe happened was that Lee groups all of their .356 moulds together. It's up to you to decide which bullet fits your needs. At Midway, some clerk decided that all of the bullets would work in all of the cartridges mentioned. It's the kind of mistake that happens when you have non gun people doing data entry. You can probably call Midway and arrange and exchange for a mould that will work for the .380.
I agree with Rocky that around 100 grains is more normal, but the shorter designs of 125 grains will work. The Lyman Cast Bullet Handbook has data, and I've done it. Recoil is likely to be horrendous in a LCP, however. It's bad enough in my much heavier Backup.

Thanks Leftoverdj,
this makes sense. I will figure out what to do with this mold and will get a new one that casts the right bullets. To bad that I have to wait again..

Those moulds sell like crazy on eBay. Should you decide to sell it, that is.

Talked to my girlfriend about this, she says that I should keep the mold and get a gun that fits the bullet.
I think she was kidding. What do you think about that? :)
Thank you for all your help!

Find a 90 grain rn mould such as lyman's 356242. With it you will be able to replicate 90 grain JHP ballistics, so your practice ammo will shoot to the same POA as your carry ammo.
