Hello, Betty . . .

How much reloading is going on in China these days . . .?

Yup, the .44 is a real telephone gun for sure -- will certainly "reach out and touch someone".

.44 Spl is one of my favorite revolver rounds.
Have 2 S&W 44 SPL + a S&W 44-40.

Betty went back to China, so we shouldn't have to worry about spam from her anymore on the IP address she used this time.

I agree, the .44 Special should be more than sufficient for the task, but not at factory load velocities.

Fortunately, we reloaders don’t have to settle for factory loads, a strong .44 Special can be loaded to velocities that can really get the job done.
One of my pet loads for the .44 Special is the following:

180 gr. hp - xtp Vihta Vuori N-350 (10.0 gr.) 1043 fps.

This load will make the xtp expand reliably and is a load that can be controlled for any needed follow-up shots. For those that want maximum performance the load above can be increased to produce around 1150 fps, have tried this load and it is just too stout for defense work in my opinion.

For those that prefer factory, Corbon offers a 165 gr. hp that should fit the bill; it is not a round I have any personal experience with but have heard some good things.

I like the 44spl and got it instead of the 45 colt never regretted the move.
I like 240 and 255 grain bullets in my pistol both work fine for me and that is all I care about.
I also have 38spl, 38 super, 9mm, 45acp to play with they all have a special use for me and I like them all.
