First of all good choice on the 7mm-08 I love it love it love it . Anyways I have 3 of them they all like different loads my full size ruger m77 likes the 175 grain round nose the best over 40.0 of win 760. My ruger compact 16 1/2 inch barrel gun likes the 120 grain sierra the best the powder type is Hodge. 4350 not sure on the grains. The third one is a marlin xl7 it likes the 139 grain flat base interlock the best also over 4350 not sure on the grains. But if you use a ball powder for the 7mm-08 for some reason the groups will be good but the point of impact will change just a little with temperatures and weather i have found that magnum primers fix this i can't explain it and that is just from my experience also they all seem to like the 4350 powders so i would start there but i love the round and have killed many deer with it and did i say i love it any more ?'s just pm me and ill be more than glad to help.

There is some good info on that site.

The two loads I settled on for my 7-08 were the TSX 120 & 140 gr loads. I
won't share my load because they were developed before load data was
available. They ended up 1/2 and 1 gr over the Barnes published max.

The load and bullet that really shined was the 120gr TSX load. It was very
soft shooting and provided excellent accuracy. IIRC the two powders I used
were Varget and 4064.

Ken,

In my two 7-08 rifles the powders I've used most are H380 and VVN160. Both rifles are quite accurate.

For a deer hunting bullet, the Hornady 139gr SP. can't be beat. I've seen several deer taken with it and it performs well. It also won't break the bank.

I've also used the Nosler 140gr. Ballistic Tip with no complaints.

Mike
