Hi all, I need someone who has access to a Hornady Handbook. I came across a good deal on some 45 ACP, 200 gr Hornady XTPs. I also have a lot of W231 that I am going to use to reload my 40S&W. I want to use the same powder for reloading both my 40 S&W and 45 ACP. I have Sierra’s 5th Edition, Modern Reloading’s 2nd Edition, and Lyman’s 48th Edition reloading manuals. None of them have load data for the 45 ACP, 200 gr Hornady XTP using W231 powder. Needless to say, I am so new to reloading that I don’t want to experiment. If one of you fine gentlemen could tell me the load data in the Hornady Reloading Handbook it would be greatly appreciated.

Diver9543, here are a few loads I dug up using 200 grain JHP's

Hodgdon's 2012 Annual shows the Sierra 200 grain JHP, COAL 1.155" with W231 start 5.2 @ 794 fps and max 5.9 @ 906 fps 16,700 CUP

Speer #12 shows their 200 grain JHP, COAL 1.55" with W231 start 5.6 @ 769 fps and max 6.3 @ 857 fps as tested fron SIG 220 4.40" barrel.

Hope this helps!

Thank you Master Chief. You are the bomb, to quote my granddaughter. I appreciate your response. The Hornady reload handbook is going on my next Midway order.

Jerry......Hornady's factory load for the 200gr XTP is 6.1gr of 231. This is the load I use in my Springfield Micro .45 which is my carry weapon.

Thanks Joe. I am planning on working up 10 loads each of 231 at 5.7, 6.1, and 6.4 and see which load my RIA 1911 Tact likes the best. I will post the results. I probably won't make it to the range until latter in the week.
