Dialysis may be a temporary situation, until they get your heart and blood-pressure meds balanced. Kidneys are wondrous organs but, once in a while, they just need a break.

I returned home the same day as my trip to ER. A little booster of Lasix seemed to be all they were prepared to do, so no sense in staying over the weekend.

Paul,

Been away for a long time only to see a couple of our
long timer's had moved on to higher ground.......and
then to see you got laid up.....sorry bud.

We're not getting any younger, and to be honest, it
never gets any easier. Now I understand why many of my
older friends say...."if you've got your health, your
doing well"......

Best wishes Bud.....relax & heal up

Made another trip to the ER last night, but I used one in Carthage that's only 20 miles from me. The entire time being treated was 15 minutes, two shots of Lasix and I was on my way! Not as thorough as the VA, but greater comfort.

I take 2 Lasix of 40 mg each every day and sometimes I take three if fluids start building up.

Bought a new cap on my last trip to the VA sorta like this: https://www.amazon.com/Warriors-Navy-Veteran-Black-Size/dp/B 01M6US0W8/ref=sr_1_182?s=apparel&ie=UTF8&qid=1482263334&sr=1 -182&nodeID=7141123011&keywords=military+baseball+caps&refin ements=p_4%3AU.S.+Warriors Mine doesn't have "Veteran" on it. It has been cold enough to want to keep my wig warm!

Lasix is considered the drug of choice for your situation (as best I understand it),but sometimes a patient might respond better to a drug of similar action but different chemical structure like Bumex or Edecrin. Might ask your M.D. how he feels about switching.

Paul,
I'm real sorry to hear of all you are going through. I'm new to the site
and forums and enjoy it to them each day. I'm learning the names
daily and send my prayers and hopes for your full recovery.
I know what you are going through as I'm home recovering from half of
my prostate being removed and having had a stent in my heart years
ago. With prayers and positive thoughts it makes it all easier. You
certainly have both and real friends also.
Get back on your feet, I for one need your insights.

Prayers to you and family.

I have returned home again. I spent from Christmas Eve until today in
some sort of facility. Dialysis is three days a week and I drive 25 miles
for the process.

I've lost enough weight to need new clothes, but some of that is due to
not eating enough. I well go close to what I did in 1967.

I'll see if I can make it to the loading room and try to catch up. I still
have a.300Blackout to finish.

Home health just left and it was an encouraging visit. I just need to get
my energy level higher.

I need to see if I can draft #1son to help out to the loading room.
