I have had this carbine for some time and it always shot high. That was
several open sights installed. So today we tried a red dot to no avail
and resorted to a scope.

It put two shots close at 25 yards, so I call that good.. Now to figure
what scope I really want on the gun. I'm sorta thinking a Pistol scope
for something smaller and quick target acquisition.

I recovered a couple of bullets from the berm and was favorably
impressed with the expansion. I have it loaded to TC/Ruger ballistics
with 12.5 go of SR4756.

Yes, .45 Colt. I just got through loading more to play with. I'm using the 270 gr bullet Stuffit liked from Ohaus that we reproduced in a 6 cavity.

Should be a fun gun. In my experience, the .45 Colt is one of the most rewarding calibers to reload for. Haven't done much with it in a rifle, though.

I noticed it left a bruise on my shoulder, it must be the Plavix causing it.

It's a light rifle slinging heavy bullets and I believe that variant had a steel butt plate. Doesn't take much to do that.

The older I get, the less willing I am to put up with recoil. I've been going through a resurgence of interest in shotguns lately and it's the first time I've shot anything that kicked significantly in a long time.

Actually it didn't recoil all that much. I just had it in a strange place, dodging my dialysis port. A slip on recoil pad may be just the thing to stop all of that.

Ditto that. Enjoy the range time.

Right now I have to have a little help motivating, so range time is restricted to the 25 yard berm just outside the house.

It really isn't too great having to have help, especially when it comes to bathroom time. I couldn't get off of the commode until we put a potty chair over it for a little more height. Now I can handle it solo.
