Since the forum seems to be a little slow, I thought I'd show a pic of a striped bass my son caught a few days ago while he and I were on Ochlocknee River, a few miles from our place.

The river feeds Lake Talquin and every year the lake's population of white bass and striped bass swim up stream to spawn. This was a female and was full of eggs.

She was 24" in length and weighed 7lb. 10oz.

He caught her on a lemon-lime plastic jig about 2.5" long. He was using a Pflueger President reel on a Fenwick graphite rod, wound with braid line. It took a couple minutes to land her. We were in my late father's boat of 1970's vintage.

It was a nice warm day on the river, especially for this time of year.

That is great! It is still a little cooler here and windy to. March weather. Every year I get excited and fish way too early then when it warms up and the fish bite I'm not in the fishing mood anymore.

Nice looking catch! We're getting a mid March snowstorm this week in NE Ohio so feel free to send some warm weather our way.

Spring in central Washington:

Actually, spring is coming. Took this photo yesterday, just outside of town. The snow is starting to melt away. Heck it was almost 50 degrees, and raining!

We've had one heck of a winter.

Oh, and congrats on the bass!

It's been a while since I went bass fishing.

Nice fish for sure. Wish our weather would warm up a bit here as I am getting fishing fever.

It has been spitting snow for a couple of days and down to 26 last night and maybe down to 24 tonight. Below 27 is the danger point for freezing the peaches and with the earlier warm weather they are mostly in bloom. It does not look good for the orchards around here.

Missouri has white bass and stripped bass and they release a lot of the sterile hybrid white/stripped in our lakes. Our record for stripper is now up to a bit over 50lbs.

This is when I miss FL.   19 degrees here this morning and I don't
think it's supposed to warm up till June.

Summer and fall is nice here but winter and spring are the pits.

By the way, nice bass.

I am definitely not fishing in shorts right now. Water temps are 38 deg so I am
still doubling down on long underwear. Finals are next week and I have papers
and finals to take. I REALLY need to go fishing!
