Am I the only one that’s just not excited and perhaps a little (a lot?) worried about the “driverless” cars they are pushing onto the public and the roads? Even worse, now they have driverless tractor-trailers! As a biker, this scares the hell out’a me. I don’t want to be followed down the road by a car (much less a tractor-trailer) with no one in control!! What happens when there’s a malfunction? How about some rectal cavity hacker taking control of one and causing some real havoc and perhaps death? It’s impossible to make something idiot and fool proof. They just build better idiots and fools. Yes, for now, they are assisted by a human. But that will not always be the case. Besides, why have driverless cars that has to have a backup human driver?

Hang in there.

I think this all started with the technology to make cars safer with the front/rear collision alerts and braking systems and the lane drift alarms. The reason these are becoming so popular is due to the increasing stupidity of the average driver and their inability to pay attention to the road. While it is a little worrisome to have a vehicle with no driver, I'm sure they would be safer than the majority of drivers on the road now days.

That was the same joke I was thinking. I see people even watching videos on a phone while driving.

Rich, you look over at the other driver with their cell phones and some of these cars are almost driverless now.

Rex, that is one of my biggest complaints about driving anymore.
While driving on the freeway I've had cars drift over and almost hit
me because someone was texting.

The 6 gun was once as common as the cellphone is today, and just as annoying when it went off in the theater.

Besides - driving has always been pleasant, even fun, for me.

Not something I want to turn over completely to a computer.
