While I find them interesting, old age and an arthritic shoulder dictate
that I no longer mess with cartridges in that power level. These days I
mess with that antique 7x57 Mauser and find shooting a lot more
pleasureful. I'm only a year and a half from starting my 8th decade. I do
wonder daily if I'll make it.

The biggest thing I shoot anymore is a .308 and not offen.   Most of
what I do is varmint hunting so that means .22-250, .243 and .25-06.

The .308 is something I bought for target shooting.

Still have a .300 H&H Mag that I planned to use on a hunt that never
materialized.   Haven't shot it in probably 10 years.

Well, I must be the odd man out. Going on 76 soon, but still shoot & hunt with a WBY 340 Magnum & a Remington 300 Ultra magnum but last deer was taken with a 30-06.
Now this year will hunt and shoot my S&W 500 Magnum. Always a challenge to hunt with a revolver to me.

No - just another group of cartridges that are fun to talk
about but not needed.

Get a 270 or 30-06 - learn how to shoot in the field and
you'll be happy snappy. Save a lot of money too.

The new Noslers are interesting, but, I surely don't NEED any more rifles. I've long since settled on my hunting rifles and am pretty happy with them.

Just last year I took four game animals, bear, mule deer, pronghorn and elk, with my .30-06 and all fell instantly at the hit.

Farthest shot was the elk, at 338 yards, but the bear wasn't too much shorter, at 325 yards.

I think the new cartridges are pretty cool, but I don't need any of them, so.. No...

I do have a very accurate .300 WSM if I need to reach out farther, and a .375 H&H if I need to hit harder.

Regards, Guy

Goes back to what I was saying in a previous post. These new rounds are just to sell more rifles.
PaulB, enjoy your 7X57 it is a joy to shoot and hunt with. There are also reduced loads for the 7X57 that are even more mild and will still kill game well. PM me if you want direction to load data

Fire4200 - don't take this to mean that I don't appreciate new cartridges. Every now and again something comes along and I'll get interested, and maybe even try it.

The .204 Ruger and the .17 HMR are two relatively recent developments that captured my interest, and I ended up buying CZ rifles in each. Great little varmint rifles!

But the new Nosler cartridges really answer a question I haven't asked... So to speak. They're cool, and interesting, and I simply don't need or want any of them.

Regards, Guy

Nosler is doing its best to produce a proprietary line of cartridges. They are
doing some interesting things and are worth a look for a reloader looking for
something new.

The only problem as I see it is trying to find that proprietary round in BFE when
you discover yours missing. I guess that is why we bring back ups...
