Every year at Camp Perry in Port Clinton, OH the Friends of Camp Perry holds 2 pop up matches. They do pistols in the spring and rifles in the fall. I've gone twice for the pistols and hope to attend the rifle shoot this year. 40 targets pop up from 7 to 31 meters and you have 3-5 seconds before they fall. I shot my Colt Commander in 45 ACP and scored poorly with a 24, 24, and 29. It was a beautiful 70 degree day with lots of sun and a stiff wind out of the south. Had plenty of time to see the sights. Thought you guys might enjoy them! Ironically, I did not get any photos of the firing line, but plenty of you tube videos if you want to see them in action.

Do you have to be a Friends of Camp Perry member, or can anyone do this? It actually sounds like a lot of fun.

It's open to anyone but the they restrict how long they will register
shooters. If you join FOCP, you get a discount on entry fees but I just
pay a little more and skip the membership.
There was probably 150 people in and out during the day. I parked next
to a couple guys who came from Chicago area and saw more than a
few out of state license plates in the lot. It's a neat experience but lots
of waiting if you don't get signed up for the early relays. Bring a lunch
and lawn chairs , I waited 3 hours to shoot.

Well, waiting 3 hours doesn't sound all that charming. Still, I bet it still beats a great day at the office . I will check out FOCP's website. Thanks for the info.
