Kinley
Yeah I have had to give companies a follow up call
occasionally to find out what thy did and once I got the
tech who worked on it they were very informative.
Don't wait too long with a company as big as RIA.
Sad to hear about the 3 star customer service.

I still am very interested in a range report, when ya
get to it.......

Range time!

Okay, I just got back from the range where I put my newly repaired RIA through its paces. I fired about 100 rounds through it without any indications of malfunction. Ammunition used was S&B 180 grain FMJ and Hornady 180 grain XTP. The XTP grouped about 2 1/2 inches at 10 yards, standing offhand. I suspect both types of ammunition used would have done better than that if the idiot behind the trigger was more up to the challenge.

I did notice that the rounds tended to print high. It could be simply a quirk of the gun, or how the technician set it up during the repair. It isn't a true 6 o'clock hold though, so I'm not entirely certain. Now that i think of it, it could just be that I am used to shooting a much slower 45 ACP in that sort of platform. Anyway, it'll be fun trying to figure it out .

Pros:
I really like the 10mm in the 1911 frame. The 5 inch barrel really balances nicely and the heft of the all-steel frame just feel nice in the hand. Recoil is not much different than a 45 ACP, though perhaps a bit more of a rap than a shove.

Cons:
The full-length guide rod make take-down a chore for cleaning. You have to lock the slide back, then insert a pin - I use a bent paperclip - into a hole on the guide rod to make sure the spring stays compressed when moving the slide back forward. Then getting the rod, spring, and barrel out can be a bit tough.

Bottom line - I am happy I made the purchase. As I said above, I like the 10mm in the 1911 platform. I believe this will make an excellent addition to my battery and I would like to try it on game as well.

Thanks Kinley
That is what I wanted to know.
Yeah I have a problem the idiot behind the sights too.
Seems to be the weak link in a few of my firearms
