Lost a real good friend yesterday while I was out of town. He was a retired cop, 70 years old. Heart attack.

Heck of a man. Did a lot of good in his life. Navy veteran. Good father & husband. Excellent Sergeant on the police department. I worked with him a lot.

Am not despondent about his death, pretty much just reflecting on the many good things he did during his years here. I'll miss him, and I'm darned glad that I took the opportunity to enjoy a cuppa coffee and some conversation with him last week.

Death - it gets all of us. I guess I'll just keep on trying to do good things while I'm here.

Regards, Guy

Sorry for your loss. Sound philosophy, though.

Sorry to hear about your friend, our society can use all the good guys it can get nowadays it seems.

I'm kind of blessed to have known a lot of people like your friend, the doers in communities who make a difference. The world's a poorer place when we lose a guy like that.

Certainly feel your sadness Guy. I wish his family well.

While I have only been retired about 8 years now, I can already see changes in my physical strength along with the ever growing aches and pains. We are mortal and there is an expiration date for all of us.

I have lost a whole lot of my fellow officers with way too many passing a good bit younger than myself or much younger than I am now for sure. The law enforcement profession in general with the shift work and constant extra stress of the job takes it's early toll on those in the profession.

Honestly have to admit that I'd much rather go like my friend Ken did, relatively quickly.

Instead of lingering, with my mind & body slowly falling apart... Especially the mind. Dang, that's hard to watch.

Sometimes, living longer isn't necessarily living better.

Amen to that Guy. If there isn't a better place they've been lying to us every Sunday.
