Well Lynn, I believe that those two are the definitive choices for their respective calibers meeting all the requirements I set forth. No castings I have for the.44mag and .44Spl are acceptable. In order to keep leading at bay I have to use special lube and sizing techniques that devour time like a ravenous wolf.

Made the mistake of looking at NOE moulds today. Wow! I have to pass of course. I don't have the money like some folks. And besides, I actually have more than I truly need. It's all good here brother, the Old Ranger's doing just fine.

Well that ain't right. The beloved 44 must have something.
I've been off the 44 kick for several years. I don't own a
44 mag now & only one 44 Special. Maybe I can get on that
after while.

Lynn, its ok. Saved up and have 1000 Berry's 240gr copper plated flat points in .429". Perfect for my Bounty Hunter SAA. At 850fps or better it puts 'em to fightin' to get through the same hole in the paper! Its a shooter.
And.... All my centerfire handguns are Consolidated! Two cast bullets and one store bought. Three to cover six different calibers. I'm not complaining in the least.

Edit:

Got ".44 inspired" and went out to my pistol range and burned some cast loads. After 25 rounds the bore was clogging up with lead. Taking a page from Craig and Lynn and shooting up the odd rounds and test leftovers, I'll be shooting them up until I'm down to just the plated loads. And it was a pain in the rump working that lead mine in my barrel.
Oh, and by the way, even those bore plugging loads shot great from my Bounty Hunter.

Post-post script...
This morning I remembered why these loads in .44mag been sitting around so long. They were loaded when I still had the 4" M-629. Being much heavier and far more comfortable to shoot, I'd loaded genuine magnum loads for it. Shooting them from a single action with grips like a '51 Navy, weighing in under 2 and a half pounds, makes for a rather painful experience . The Bounty Hunter's built über strong and can absorb the power just fine, but it's me I'm worried about! I've become a frail old man and these bear killers are beating the daylights outta me!

I likewise have come to the point that recoil is no longer
in my mind but in my hand.
