Oh yes that's is the plan for one plinking
round and other for hunting. I have both
cartridges for my Winchester 94AE 44 Mag..
I won this rifle and it's been a some what
of a dream of mine to own a rifle of this
type. I don't have a lot of money so I am
using what I have around far as powder
goes Green Dot and Black powder. I am
happy that I have one load for the 44 Mag
now just need a load that be around 800 to
700 fps for the 44 Special.

If I want to use my long Lyman 429421 bullet in my Win. 94 .44 Mag., I have to seat them in .44 special cases in order for them to feed through the action if seated correctly. With 16 grains of 2400 they do a good job at probably 1,300 or more fps.

I have a .44 Special five shooter so I do have some brass, but mostly I just use the Lyman 429215gc for the carbine in the mag. cases for hunting. Using AA-#9 I get 1,900 fps. and dead on point of impact compared to factory rounds, which I have not used for many years. Cast is great.

Hign velocity is not really needed for a good cast bullet to kill decently if the range is not long so your Green Dot loads should do quite well, especially out of the carbine.

I think so it should be a good load for.44
mag out of my rifle. Just need find a good
load for the 44 Special. Some people think
Green Dot is a dead powder but is not. I
just need a load for the 44 special that
is around 800 700 maybe 900 feet per
second.

That 429215 GC bullet took two deer for me using it in an inline muzzle loader in sabots. Worked, but I went to a heavier bullet with a bigger meplat the next year.

It is a good bullet and shoots pretty well even without the gas check in my .44 Special plinking loads. Both my revolvers are belly guns, so a high degree of accuracy isn't in the cards no matter what.

Sounds like you have it dialed in. Most of
my hunting has been small game hunting
with 26 grains of green dot how to load of
7 1/2 birdshot. Now I have worked up a 29
grain load a GreenDot with Buckshot and
shotgun slug switch I also cast myself. I
would like to get in big game hunting but
right now it's money and also time and
effort to go Scout which I do not have

Its the first powder I ever loaded.

Its very stable and has lots of uses. One of the great powders if you ask me.

I agree with you it seems to do what I
want.12 gauge likes it. So far my
Winchester model 94 AE in .44 Mag likes
it. And my. Smith and Wesson model SW9VE
in 9mm likes it too!!!

This is really cool that you found something so versatile that works for you. When you use up all your Green Dot, you may want to give Unique a try, it really is the best all around powder. No one will do everything well, but Unique is about as broadly versatile as a powder can be.
