When it cooled down to a near artic 89 this afternoon, my dogs and I went to ambulate a bit amongst the flora and the fauna. Naturally a sidearm is part of the uniform of the day, and the new .45Colt SAA, in it's compact and stylish rig, was the weapon of choice. We walked around the woods exploring the more accessible areas of the property without event. Miss Kota, my elderly ivory colored husky, was growing tired and the heat was effecting her as it was me. The two big boys with us fell into the column of march back up the trail to the house where cool water awaited us all.

As we approached the house and entered the grassed area of the humble front yard, something was wrong. Movement in the grass not 10' in front of me. Something was emerging from underground, just like in the movie "Tremors"... My dogs moved into defensive positions in full alert status. I remained motionless in anticipation of an eminent attack. Even Miss Sugars, the grey tabby cat that resides outside, was in full alert posture. Then it became visible... As the creature from below the earth elevated it ugly head above the surface I was in full draw of the Colt 45. As the creature rotated it's hideous and grotesque face toward my direction, the Colts hammer was already falling. The gun bucked. The smoke wafted from the barrel. And the sound of a classic weapon that filled my hand echoed amongst the trees and my humble home. Approaching the creature I had no doubt my 45Colt had killed the creature....

Hay! Y'all got any idea what an awful mess a 200gr RNFP with a nose shaped like a barstool can to to a mole? Well boys, let me tell ya.... The top part was vaporized! The bottom part fell back down the hole! Hokey smoke, Bullwinkle!

So now I'm including moles to my hunts on hogs, coyotes, armidillos, cottonmouth and copperhead snakes, and now moles! I'll whack em all! I should use a .22LR to shoot moles I guuess, but boy howdy, that 45Colt just blows em up! Now I don't care but that's funny!

My neighbor heard just the one round so he knew it wasn't target or plinking. He called to see if we had a big hog to haul out. He now calls me "Whack-a-Mole Wade", the big bwana rodent slayer with a hand cannon!
Shucks, they're all VC;
Varmint Cong! Yee haaaa!

Awesome!

A young Marine I knew well... Ahem... may have shot a gopher in his front yard with a .357 revolver...

Danged thing was eating my wife's flowers!

Guy, I knew you'd get a kick outta this. It was funny though.

My father discovered 45 Colt Silvertips were remarkably effective on woodchuck.

Well I can't wait till the next mole hunt with a Colt 45!
Makes ya wanna holler out something stupid like a drunken hillbilly when you shoot one! But if the moles are hiding in their bunkers something will wander onto the place to get blasted! A week hardly goes by without me blowing something to bits!

It's obvious that life around here can be a might dull at times huh?

There was a time not too long ago when
a .22 cost as much as a reloaded round
with a home made cast bullet.

Could back that load off just a tad for
"mole hunting "

Well don't think that a load of 3gr of Bullseye and a .454" roundball didn't cross my mind.
Kinda like a roundball in a .30'06 for rabbit huntin'. I can adapt to small game with bigbores. But it's so much more fun to vaporize 'em!
