Well, I have a .50 cal. BMG boat tail that I have had on my reloading bench for almost ever and it appears to be just a normal FMJ bullet that weighs 694 gr. and measures 2.255. I picked it up off a range at FT. Bragg a while back. A long while back. I also have a loaded SL-45 round that I also found there but no easy way to pull it to measure the weight and bullet length.
Maybe there are a few .50 BMG shooters around that can help you out.
This remanufactured 647 gr. bullet below measures 2.290.
