So as warned i find myself thinking more and more about my
next single action. Got the Cimarron 357 to the range
today, and boy is she a sweet shooter.. everything
chronographed basically the same as with the GP100 (had to
check) and she hits where she points... so was thinking I
might like a smaller caliber single action... I like the
size and feel of the ruger bearcat, but with the new
cimarron in he family I see me moving away from ruger...
also would like a reloadable cartridge...
Anything out there like the little wells Fargo guns in a
small (if uncommon) cartridge?

An aside: loaded a bunch of those 105gr Meisters... with
14gr of bluedot they were cooking 1800fps with very
control able recoil... fun fun.. love to see what those
little guys would do out of a rifle.

Ativist
I am a big fan of the 327 federal mag and I know you
said Rugers are NOT the direction you want to go BUT
the Ruger Single 7 is available and is a 327 ???

I am looking for a 32-20 single action ( I have a 1917
S&W DA and it is by far the most popular gun at the
house for beginning shooters).

I see my choice are limited- leaving out the rare
Ruger Buckeye 32-20 and the rare and expensive actual
colt (old or new) or the dream gun Freedom Arms 32-
20/327 for a couple of grand.........

I see (yes I know they are colt clones- I never said I
wouldn't use colts -just they are not my preferred
choice ) a Model P jr? or a Lightning* from
Cimmarron Arms. I am sure the waiting period is just
short of eternity. On the plus side they make em with
an extra 32 H&R cylinder (32 ACP, 32 S&W- short and
long and 32 H&R)

Not sure what a "colt" Model P junior is?
*Their Lightning version is single action

Sooooo I am kinda in the same boat you are.....

There are millions of 32 cal $2.00 specials (they no
longer can be bought for 2 bucks) out there of
questionable build and a variety of different bullet
from rimfire on up....
Not exactly what I am looking for though.......

The above conversion cylinder will fit a 1848 .31cal pocket pistol or a Wells Fargo model Uberti made BP revolver. Shoots a .32S&W "cowboy load".

Pistol & conversion cylinder will run close to $600 give or take a bit.

Nice.... on all counts... didn't know much about the .32 H&R so looked it up... the ability to drop in a bullet with ballistics superior to a 38spl or power way down to .380 levels is pretty darn diverse... if i hadn't just bought the 357 I'd be all over it... for the moment I'll work on powering down those little meister's (which I'll post a new thread about in a minute).

Also love the little wells fargo... the fact that a conversion is available makes for a challenging decision..
