Actually it wasn't game but one of our small prairie rattlers. I'd like to tell you how I shot him at distance with the weak side hand but in truth I forgot to put a gun in the pickup when I went to the farm. So when he tried to cross the road I found a shorty 3 foot shovel in the pickup. I never wished for a larger caliber but did wish the shovel had a longer handle.
All ended well and I have more rattles for the grandkids.

A shovel of hoe is a better snake killer than any pistol.

I live on a place with 18 acres and bought one of these little Taurus or Rossi "Tuffy" shotguns like the old snake charmers I carry on my lap while I'm mowing. That said, I like snakes and have yet to run across a venomous one out on this place and have only run across one in Kansas since I've been here. One of the last times I visited my folks in Texas before they moved, I killed three copperheads in the yard in 24 hours. One thing I don't miss about the south is the various creepy crawlies they have in abundance there.

You are so right about that.   I'm glad I live in the north but start to
complain about January.

Shovel makes a mighty fine snake killing tool.

Good going Rex!
Of course to reload is simply taking another swing at it.

An E-tool proved a handy CQB weapon too, no matter what kinda "snake" is after ya.

Hey Rex, ya gonna take you a shooter next time, or a longer handled shovel?
