We used to do a lot of things, the range wasn't happy when we started our own bowling pin shoots, with .44 mag loads !
The pieces would rain down after a hit, but the range people didn't like bits an pieces of bowling pins we missed at clean up.
It takes about a half second for the bullet to hit at 200 yard, you can actually shoot the look for the hit.

My range was started after WW2. I've been a member since the late 80's. Those bowling pin shoots come and go and I noticed in the last email Monthly Report that they had been curtailed again for Dec 2017 into 2018. Once again, they just make a huge mess and no-one really wants to clean it up. I'm sure in a year or two it will take root again.

Yep, I've shoot at them and they are fun but tuff knock off the table at 10 yards. I guess as long as there are bowling allies to buy "junk" pins from we will be shooting them.

a hit from a .44 mag usually moves them as much as 2 or 3 feet
Thats 240 or 300 grain bullets
