And not a single man protested or went to hide in another
country either. An ENTIRE generation of American heroes
who answered the call.
And..... An entire nation sacrificed and worked to back
every serviceman, and women worked to build everything
needed to insure total victory. There was no whining
little punks or wimps here then. The only "entitlement"
was to put a round into the enemy!

I had the pleasure of knowing Col Robert Thacker, my fathers cousin. His story
about flying into Pearl Harbor as it was being attacked still gives me goose
bumps. He was the flight lead for his group and was the first plane to land at
Hickum field during the attack. The runway was cratered from bomb strikes
making the landing hairy. He pulled all the parachutes, orange at the time, and
ran back to the run way to mark the craters for the following pilots. His crew
ran into a hanger and took a direct hit from a bomb. He was the only one to
