Cold, wind, freezing mist. It's going to take a lot of coffee today and no shooting.

72F. Full radiant sunshine. Mild breeze. And isn't quite
yet noon. I'm sorry 'ole buddy, but I'm not feeling it...
The cold that is.

But hey, this is Texas. Our weather changes like big city
models at at fashion show! Two days ago I was drowning.
Today, gorgeous weather. Tomorrow, were in for nearly
24hrs of rain and temps just above freezing. It's Texas,
what can I say?

I'm going out to my pistol range in a bit and pop some
38's with my 1860 Army Conversion. What's the old saying?
"Make hay while the sun shines." Tomorrow that ain't
gonna be happening

Cheer up Rex, it'll get better by spring!

No it isn't.   From here the days get longer and that's what I like.
Yes, Jan and Feb will be bad but the days get longer.

But then March is pretty bad too where I live.

51F. Raining. Going down to freezing tonight. See?
Texas, short sleeves one day. Umbrella and overcoat the
next.
Freezing rain/snow/slush up near the Oklahoma border.
Glad I'm in the Piney Woods.

Six inches on the ground and more falling as I type.
Rain tomarrow, then single digit cold temps,
thanks mother nature.

Well at least we have a White Christmas.

It was up to 65 degrees here yesterday, but they are predicting some possible snow flurries.

"
...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM THIS EVENING TO
6 AM CST SATURDAY...

* WHAT...Wet snow expected. Plan on slippery road conditions
especially on bridges, overpasses and grassy surfaces. Total
snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches are expected.

* WHERE...Portions of southeast Kansas and central, east central,
   south central and southwest Missouri.

* WHEN...From 6 PM this evening to 6 AM CST Saturday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Be prepared for reduced visibilities at
times. Snow accumulations are primarily expected on grassy and
elevated surfaces. "

I really doubt that we will see a white Christmas as the ground is just too warm and any accumulation will likely melt off fairly fast. But any moisture is certainly welcome. We have been really dry in S.Central Missouri.

19 here this morning, but beautiful sunshine, so the dog and I put some rifles in the Jeep and headed to the gun club! Pretty busy day at the club, with many folks off work and the sun shining so nicely.

Nice time at the range, but ran out of time and had to get home. Getting chilly again anyway.

Woke up to the first snow of Winter this morning. Maybe three inches. Not enough to hinder anything much. Report says it's 23 degrees outside, but bright and shiny and no wind to speak of so feels warmer. Kind of makes me want to go hunting but I have other things to do today.

I'm really hoping we don't see a winter like we had 3 and 4 years
ago.   4 years ago in was -12 from Dec to Feb.   3 years ago same
thing only it was -22 for the cold months.

It got down to 3 degrees last night, supposed to be colder this evening. I think the high today is supposed to be in the low teens.

I think I am gonna dig out the Carharts and pacs and try to do some shooting today though.

18XF here this morning in armadillo country. For me, that
is very cold. My tired old bones don't like it even in
the house that's at 51XF. You see, I have almost no
insulation in this house. Oh well, it could be worse. My
boy sent me a picture of the dashboard of his patrol car.
The thermometer on his Patrol unit red - 34 degrees! Glad
I don't live in Montana! Oh well, enough of my whining.
Happy New Years boys!

Wade, my old bones don't like it either. And.....the armadillo are moving further north. Heard of a report of one in southern Nebraska. Have seen a dead one in northern Kansas!
Happy New Year back at you and to all.

This morning I'm in my house wearing sweat pants, tee
shirt, heavy bathrobe, down vest, field jacket, insulated
gloves, and a wool felt hat. It's cold even in the house!
Waiting for the sun to warm the house up a little.
Yesterday, before sundown, with my two little heaters
going, I got it to 65 degrees inside here! 48 degrees in
the house this morning, and the heaters have not been off
once in two days.
They even have freeze warnings on the Mexican border!
Ok, enough whining. I've been in a lot worse. Just can't
remember when that was?!

The Old Ranger is a popsicle but he don't care. We
Rangers used to say "Travel light. Freeze at night." but
I was in my teens and 20's then. Young and stupid!

Happy New Year boys!

Wow!   I guess we're all getting it this year.   I haven't seen anything
warmer then 7 in the morning for 2 weeks now.

My guess is where I live we'll see this continue till March.   February
is usually as cold as Jan and most times colder.
