I saw 37* for just a bit on my thermometer today, ran out and strung some 8# test on a new fishing reel and installed on an extra pole I had. It don't take much to get my hopes up. As soon as I got the reel installed I hung the pole back up to wait for warm weather.

19 degrees, 2 inches of snow thus far, with half an inch
of ice below it. An expected high today of maybe 27
degrees. Winds out of the North from 10 mph to 15 mph.
Wind chill factor around 5 degrees. Yes, old man winter
has come to visit.

Yesterday it was 61 and full sunshine. I was out shooting
my beloved .44mag Bounty Hunter dressed in bluejeans and
teeshirt.
Right now I'm in sweat pants, thick robe, down vest, and
a G.I. field jacket. That's in the house.

Old Ranger is not thrilled, but will deal with it.
Now Guy would be out dancing around in this laughing at
2" of snow calling it a dusting!
And we'll be back in the upper 50's to lower 60's by
Saturday. Welcome to Texas with the accurate old saying
of "If you don't like the weather in Texas wait 10
minutes and it'll change."

It's -1 here right now. Supposed to have wind chills well below zero.

I'm really not a big fan of Winter, but we haven't had a real Winter in several years now and the end result of that is a few terrible tick years. I'm hoping the cold temps and relatively small amount of snow to insulate the ground will kill them off and we won't have to deal with so many this Spring.

Been cold here for several days with highs barely getting over 30 on the days that the sun can get through. Low here this morning was -5 degrees and we have around 3-4" snow on the ground. The sun is out of bed and shining, but so far it has only climbed up to 0 degrees at 8 am. Thankfully for the outside critters the wind was not all that bad last night.

I feel for the critters outside and those that have to tend to them.

It's been colder than a call-girl's heart here but hey, it's supposed to get up to 40 tomorrow.

I'm thinking on moving to Tahiti. It's 7 degrees this
morning. A whopping 44 degrees inside my crummy little
house. I remember cold like this, and worse, but that was
in S. Dakota or Colorado not East Texas!

I'm huddled at one of two space heaters in this place
with my G.I. thermals, sweat pants, bathrobe, and my camo
hunting coat with hood and thermal gloves! And that's
still not really comfortable. Comical though!

Yeah, Tahiti sounds nice.

Well, Grafton, Ohio is 7 degrees this morning.   They are predicting a
warm up to 40 sometime next weekend.

This weather pattern seems to come every couple years now.   When
it does this usually lasts thru March.

The last time we had this I remember going to the boat in April but
couldn't get to it because of all the ice from the lake blocked the
path to it.

This is a little to far north for my liking and the lake keeps us cold till
about the middle of May.

So where's all that so called "global warming"?
Another load of horse hockey Al Gore claimed was his
"discovery" like his creating the internet!

Wade, I believe we at minimum have a weather pattern change. They are planting cotton in southern Kansas now.
Kingman and Anthony I believe both have gins. I lived there most of my life and have never seen that before. We haven't planted wheat for the last two years, It has been hot and dry enough that you can't depend on it always coming up even. Some people are raising good wheat but there are other options now that look better to the boys. Yearly average temp has increased, just not this January.

I'm with you Rex. Seems obvious that the pattern is changing.   In
my younger days we rarely saw temps below 0 here.   Now it's
becoming the norm for winters.

In 1977 we did get a blizzard with -4 and I thought the world was
going to end.   The coldest I've seen is -12 in 2015.   2016 saw a -22
but I got out of here and stayed in FL for that one.

A -7 degrees for a low here in S. Central Missouri. Almost noon and my wireless outdoor temp transmitter that is protected from the sun says that it is 13 degrees. Slight breeze out of the N. and clear sky, so the sun is trying to warm it up.

I think tomorrow we are expecting wind change and a relief from the arctic cold and will continue warming for a few days.

HEY RAIN. Yep, we are finally getting an honest to goodness soaking rain. Temps climbed up into the 60's yesterday and was 65 today before the rain set in this evening. I am certainly glad to get rid of the frigid temps, but more than glad to finally see some much needed rain. Looks like it will be the best rain that we have gotten since late summer.

Remember what I said about Texas? Last week single digit
temperature, snow & ice. Today, 71, rain, and a tornado
possibly in progress right now just north of here.

YEE HAA!
