I don't think I've seen 7 posts in the last week.

It's good to hear everyone is doing well for the holidays. This site to
me is like home and family.

Too cold here. We are fighting to stay above 0 for a daytime high.

Rex, it isn't much better in OH.   Mornings are around 0 going to a
high of about 15 degrees.    Long term shows this pattern for at least
3 weeks.

Being retired I just don't do much outside when it's like this.   At
least I no longer have to drive an hour to get to work.    On the down
side I don't think the interior of my truck has gotten over 40 degrees
because I only do short trips now.

Darn I wish I live somewhere south of here.

I lived in Pensacola, FL for a few years.   The second winter there my
heater core went on my Dodge truck. When I took it to the dealer
they informed me that the dash had to come out to replace the core
and the charge would be $1100.    At first I thought he was joking
with me but he wasn't.

Laughing I told him forget it, this is Florida, I can live without it. I lasted till Jan when the
temp went to 19 degrees for 2 days.   The second day I took it in for
repair.   Hard to believe it could get that cold in Florida.

Been middling busy. But not out hunting for a while, I really need to get out after those doggone birds a few more times!

Snowy here in central Washington, but nothing like back east. I did spend 2.5 hours with the snow shovel on Saturday.

Honestly though 30 minutes were just BS'ing with two of my neighbors who were looking for a break from their own shoveling.

Got my walks all the way down to concrete, then did the sidewalks in front of each of my neighboring homes.

Supposed to warm up here considerably today, and the next few days, so we should see a lot of melt. I found the storm drains, and dug all the snow and ice out from around them, so the melt will have somewhere to go, rather than just pooling up in a big ol' freezing ice/water pond at the intersection. Lived in the same place a long time now, and it does that every year if I don't go dig out the storm drain opening.

There ya go. Hardly a thing about shooting, guns, hunting.... Sigh... I'll try to do better.

Seems like the traffic on this board has really dropped off since JohnK, got to
the point where he didn't have time to keep an eye on it, then Stuffit passed,
and a handful of other old timer's have gone on.
With the number of gun related pages on Facebook most forums have lost a
lot of participation.

MSR's are most of the rage these days. Even old timers like me have enjoyed working with the AR15. Newer cartridges and bullets are really showing what the little black rifle is capable of in terms of ballistics and accuracy.

If you want to be in the thick of it, join one of the "black rifle" forums. There is plenty of activity surrounding the 5.56/.223, 6.8SPC, 25-45Sharps and the 6.5 Grendel. And, a few others.

Lots of ice in my small area. Too cold to go shooting I think plus with the wife getting a compressed L11 vertebra we have been to the ER twice, 3 days in the hospital.
I can't leave her for any amount of time alone and where I
go shooting is 1.3 hour drive.

Activities here are indeed spotty. When I post a thread
and nothing in three or four days gets a reply, I delete
the post. Figure if no one replys after a few days no one
is interested so why leave it here? But yes, at times
it's rather stagnant.

In my case, much of my reloading has sort of stagnated.

I've been reloading for 40+ years. At first it was with the original Lee Loader, but in a couple of years I managed to save up enough to buy a press and dies and start doing it the right way.

It's just that now I'm on the verge of retirement and wanted to stockpile the components I would need to keep reloading before my income dropped, so everything is 223/5.56, 9mm, 38 Special or 45 ACP.

After I retire and get resettled back on the family farm, I'll start back on my quest to come up with a load for the 5.7mm Johnson/22 Spitfire that doesn't destroy the brass on first firing after the case is formed.

And then I can consider moving into some more interesting - and challenging cartridges.

Is that the cartridge the designed to work in M1 Carbines? Always seemed like the .30 Carbine was an unappreciated case, could be necked down and used in some kind of sleek bolt action. Guess it would duplicate the .25-20 or .218 Bee though.
