Was sworn in to the U.S. Navy.
Talk about a change of life! LOL!

But better then being drafted into the Army I think.

And what's so bad about the U.S. Army?

In the Navy on a DD we have Warm bunks & hot meals all the time!
Plus we had very mobile gun platforms and the other side didn't!

I think I'll have a A.F Don Carlos cigar with some Jack Daniel's Gentleman Jack tonight....

If they got shot down they did. And of
course in survival training for if they
got shot down even for those who never
actually got shot down.

And then for the few big birds with an
onboard sh*tter ~ You ever try to use one
of those? Try stuffying yourself in an
18" wide by 30" long closet then try to
sit down and go and try to wipe when you
can't get your arm around your bum with
the aluminum wall in the way. You'll wish
there was a tree, and don't get me started
about flying with nowhere to go but in
your pants and you have got to go and
trying to hold it until you land and not
crap your pants. Oh, yah, smart thing to
do is take a dump before climbing in and
taking off in the first place. But a
surprise scramble is a surprise scramble
and you get your but in the plan and get
off the ground ASAP, no sh*tter pit stop
on the way!

Ah 1960...America surely was a different place then. I wish we could go back. It was just a few days beyond 50 years ago when I got discharged from the Army...one tour was more than enough for me.

I did 24 years in the Army, retired in 2012. As I reflect back on it and all the time spent away, usually in hot, sandy sh*tholes, the family stuff I missed, cold, rain, snow, knuckle head Soldiers I was responsible for, how hard it seemed to be as a way to make a living and have to conclude that I was a better young man than I gave myself credit for to deal with all of it.

I'd do it again, and I'd choose the Army again. No question.

Thank you Chief.
And thank you all for your service. Our freedom would be long gone without men and women that would sacrifice so much or even their lives to ensure the freedom for the people of our country. Unfortunately, even freedom for those that take that freedom for granted and for those fools that want to give it away.
