John,

Thanks for the story about the herd and the dog. It is very interesting
how a prey animal can tell if it is being hunted. When I was in Africa we
saw it all the time. Tommy’s, warthogs, and other prey walking casually
next to a pride of lions. Like they could tell the hunt was off.

The most dangerous animals on the planet are not the predators, they are the herbivores.

There are videos of Cape Buffalo intentionally attacking and killing lions.

One of our stops in Kenya was the treehouse. There was a cape buff
with a broken off horn. He ran everything of including rhino and
elephants. He was a nasty one.

I have never been to Africa or hunted down
there but I have heard that Hippos are
actually more dangerous then Cape Buffalo,
Lions, Elephants, Crocediles, etc . . .

Apparently they are very ill tempered and
anywhere on the river banks where they
mainly live everything else including the
crocediles give them a very wide berth.
They will attack boats in the water and
people who dare to enter their territorial
section of the riverbank.

The hippos are a real threat, a pastime in ancient Egypt was hunting hippos, more than one Pharaoh met an untimely end in that pursuit.
