Happy solstice, down hill to spring from here. The winter has been quite pleasant, my newly repaired snow blower is languishing in the shed, the blade for my tractor is parked by the barn and my snow shoes have cobwebs on them..

Kind of nice for a change, but I will be paying for it come fire season.

This is one of my favorite days of the year because we start to see more
daylight. For the next week or two we won't see a difference but after that it
becomes noticeable.

Major rainstorm today will wash
what little snow cover we have away.

Looks like a green Christmas this year,
even after 4 storms in the fall.

Uhhhh, I thought today was the first day of winter..
Officially, of course.

Exactly. Or the solstice. It's both, however one wants to look at it.

I'm hoping for some SERIOUS snow fall out here in the Northwest over the next couple of weeks. It's been awfully mild so far.

Without the snow pack in the high country we will be in trouble during the coming summer.

At one time the solstice fell on the 25th and is the actual origin of that holiday.
