I loaded 50+ 223 for a friend with no problems but today I am trying to load the same and am not able to seat primers very well. They seem to be sticking on the input. I usually get this problem one out of fifty or so but this is like 9 out of 10. Winchester small rifle primers, mix brass and a lot off shore. I have been reaming as I go now but it barely helps. Any ideas??? Craig

Well just loaded 15 more and a lot of reaming before attempting to seat seems to do the trick. This is mainly P C M brass which I don't know anything about. Craig

All done with 50, I read the lable wrong they are PMC brass. Peoples Military of China if I had to guess which I do. I think I do have a lot of this brass but don't expect to shoot it often. You never know I may just love it. Craig

Try hand priming a few. It may help you to diagnose if it's the machinery, brass, or primers.

Thanks for the input but I really think it is the PMC brand brass. I had a few other brands that primer seated just fine. I will try some more later and will separate the brass by head stamp so I can say it's one or two brands that are the problem. Thanks again for the input. Craig

http://pmcammo.com/about/

I believe it's actually from Korea. I've never had a problem with their brass although I haven't loaded or shot any in several years.

The primers were probably crimped and will need to be reamed.

Okay, well, if you think you've got it figured out, that's the important thing. Happy loading, happy shooting :)

After sorting the brass I have primered 30 more rounds with no problems to speak of! The PMC brass had some red sealer on the spent primers which didn't help but the crimp was mainly the issue. Case solved!! Craig
