Would you buy a polymer revolver? Plastic guns are brought up fairly often but always in context with semi autos. If someone were to build a polymer frame revolver would you buy it?

Never
Absolutely
It would depend on the gun

I know at least one Russian company was making a polymer frame 357 mag break top revolver, but I don't think it ever made it to the states. What about a SAA? One of the most classic revolvers, would a polymer SAA be the epitomy of blasphemy?

With the advances in polymer technology, and some gun companies experimenting with various metal alloys beyond traditional steel I figure it's only a matter of time until we see one.

Personally, I wouldn't dream of it...Probably because of the fact that I like large calibers and heavy bullets.. I could see them having their place for concealed carry in a small caliber such as a .380 or something like that....
I would have to wonder about the life expectancy of a 357 in polymer though...

That's about the response I figure most will have .

With the polymer 357 I questioned the break top design more than the use of polymer. There are 10mm polymer autos, which do have the recoil spring advantage, but I'd expect it would be strong enough. I don't know how durable they would be though.

I was going to say never in a million years, but at that time I was thinking SA type guns and that would just be wrong. Then I thought about a DA self defense gun. That may work. If they can get it small enough, I fear it would have to be to bulky to be really effective as a concealed carry piece, even though it may weigh next to nothing with a polymer frame and say a light weight alloy cylinder and barrel. So in the end I answered depends on the gun.

John, where in the world did you ever get such an insane idea? I would rather buy IMR powder in plastic bags than to have a plastic wheel gun. Not only is that just sick and wrong, but it'd be like kissing your sister, no matter how good it felt, deep down inside you would know you're doing somthing wrong just by holding it.

I was kinda suprised to read that, at least we know how you feel. I guess that means I'll have to take back your Christmas present now

No way in h**l would I buy one. I won't buy a plastic semi either.

I also don't see any need for ultralight carry guns. Just weighed my P229. 2 pounds 4 ounces loaded and I hardly know it's on my belt.

turtle71 is making a good point here....

Way too much is being placed on light weight when it comes to handguns, everybody is trying to out do the other with how light their new belly gun is, without enough concern with how it'll hold up, or how long it'll last, or....How ugly it looks.....!

At this point I say no way. Now, who knows what the future holds. Someday that may be the only choice we have, that's why I've bought so many steel guns.

I cannot think of one argument that could convince me to buy such a thing.

An unconditional maybe!! But it would have to have the smoothness of a tuned Python, the blue of a glory-years Smith, the "pointability" of an SAA.....Fat chance, huh??
OOPS! Almost forgot! It has to sell for under $300!

The only plastic gun I ever had was when I was about five, and it shot caps! I wont ever own a real gun made out of plastic unless someone gives it to me, and I like them enough to try not to hurt thier feelings.
